Smith, who is currently touring Europe, joined Crowe on stage to perform a duet of “Because the Night” at two of Crowe’s three gigs yesterday.

Crowe and good friend Canadian actor and musician Alan Doyle performed at Harpa concert and conference center, the XiD 977 Garden Party event at Bar 11 on Hverfisgata, and at Kex Hostel, with Smith joining the pair during the last two shows.

Crowe, who has been in Iceland for the filming of scenes for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, said that he had really enjoyed his time in Iceland, referring to it as “a fantastic country”, but joked that swimming in the “4°C” ocean hadn’t been his best experience.

A large crowd gathered to watch each of the concerts, with people vying for a view of the XiD 977 performance from the upper floors of the indoor car park building on Hverfisgata.

The performance at KEX Hostel ended Crowe and Doyle’s “one day tour of Reykjavík”. Ben Stiller, who has also been in Iceland recently to film scenes for his new film, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, was among the many who attended the final show.

Crowe thanked his fans in Iceland via Twitter today: “Iceland you have been wonderful, thanks for everything, hope to see you again sometime.”

Crowe announced via Twitter on Friday that he and Doyle would be performing three gigs in Reykjavík on Culture Night.

In an interview with Stöð 2 broadcast today, Crowe said that Smith had been in Iceland visiting Aronofsky and others and asked if she could join them on stage.
