Passengers aboard nine airplanes that landed at Keflavík International Airport around 9 o’clock this morning are stuck in their seats due to weather. ISAVIA Public Relations Officer Guðjón Helgason told RÚV the passengers will be permitted to leave the planes when the wind calms down. Two other planes are approaching landing and their passengers will likely have to wait before disembarking as well.
All flights at the airport have been suspended since 9 a.m., where the wind speed has been measured at 37 metres per second. Guðjón says ramps may not be used to offload passengers when winds exceed 25 metre per second.
