Bryndiis Hlödversdóttir, parliamentarian for the Alliance Party will step down from her seat on August 1 to take up the position of law professor at the Bifröst School of Business.
“It’s a big decision to step down, “ she said yesterday. “I’ve been thinking about this for some time. The last ten years have been fantastic, but law is what really attracts me right now.”
She denies that her decision has anything to do with the upcoming battle for the next Alliance Party leader between Ingibjörg Sólrún
Gísladóttir and Össur Skarphédiinsson.
Critics have said that she was pressurized to quit to make more room for Gísladóttir. “These conspiracy theories couldn’t be further from the truth. Those who know me know that I’m following my heart.”
