On Friday the Coast guard helicopter was on regular training flight over South Iceland when a call for help came from a woman stranded on an island in the middle of Thjórsá River. The pilots immediately landed and picked up a couple of men who knew the area according to mbl.is.

The helicopter then landed on the island and rescued the woman who had been paragliding from Búrfell mountain, a popular place for this activity. She was unharmed, but had some difficulties and had to land on the island. The helicopter brought her back to the maountain.
The mission was swift. Only 16 minutes after receiving the call the Coastguard landed with the woman at Búrfell.
