Páll Stefánsson, IR Photographer wins Award

Today the annual Icelandic Press photographers’ exhibition was opened in Gerdarsafn in Kópavogur. At the same time awards were given for the best photos of 2005 in various catagories.

Our photo editor, Páll Stefánsson, had more photos in the exhibition than any other Icelandic photographer, with 19 out of approximately 200 images. He won an award for the Best Landscape photo of the year. It was published in the second issue of Iceland Review in 2005.

Prizes were awarded in many catagories and among the winners were Ragnar Axelsson, Bragi Thór Jósefsson, Thorkell Thorkelsson and others. A total of 47 photographers sent in 1,800 pictures for the show which is a record. Among those present for the opening of the show was Prime Minister Halldór Ásgrímsson.

A book with the photos in the show is published at the same time by Edda publisher.

The show in Gerdarsafn will remain open for four weeks.
