Over two million copies of Indridason’s books sold

Icelandic crime writer Arnaldur Indridason has sold over two million copies of his novels worldwide, according to the latest figures by his publisher and reported in Morgunbladid today. Two Israeli publishing houses recently battled over the rights to his most recently published novel, Kleifarvatn, with the result that the original figure increased eight-fold.

“I’m obviously pleased about how things have transpired and the interest in my work overseas,” Indridason told Morgunbladid. “It’s particularly pleasing because I am writing for 350,000 people in a language that they say will become obsolete in 100 years.”

Indridason’s next novel is due for release on 1 November.
