More than 100 minor earthquakes were picked up by sensors between midnight and 6 am yesterday morning, approximately two kilometers north-northwest of Hellisheiðarvirkjun geothermal power plant in southwest Iceland.

According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office, the largest quakes measured around two points on the Richter scale but the vast majority of them ranked below one in strength, Morgunblaðið reports.
The series followed another series of earthquakes which occurred in a similar location in the early hours of Sunday morning, and a myriad of other quakes caused by the power plant’s operations, some of which have upset the residents of Hveragerði nearby.
The last series of manmade earthquakes hit further to the west than earlier series.
