Organizers Satisfied with Horse Festival

The organizers of the 2008 Landsmót Horse Festival near Hella in south Iceland, which ended yesterday, are satisfied with this year’s tournament. Between 13,000 and 14,000 people attended the final day of competition.

According to Fréttabladid, the spectators following the finals in all categories were very excited. The banks providing the best view of the tracks were crowded. Police say the crowds were well behaved and no major cases were reported.

Kjartan Thorkelsson, sheriff in Hvolsvöllur, a neighboring town of Hella, said he is very satisfied about how smoothly everything went at the Horse Festival considering the large number of participants.
