Icelanders are more optimistic these days according to an expectation index from Gallup reports Icelandic State Radio, RÚV. The index, released yesterday, shows how the public views the economy and future financial outlook. The expectation index measured in at 128,7 points – a substantial increase since June.
Consumer trust concerning the economy and employment increased and has not measured higher since the first survey in 2001.
According to RÚV, this optimism seems to effect expenditures. New numbers from the Central Bank show that turnover in debit and credit cards amounted to ISK 51 billion in June, an increase of 7.6% in inflation adjusted terms.
