Members of Parliament in the Left-Greens, Social Democratic Alliance, Pirate Party and Bright Future have requested an investigation into the granting of ISK 200 million in funds to various projects by Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, ruv.is reports.
According to weekly Akureyri Vikublað, ISK 97 million (USD 860,000, EUR 625,000) of a total ISK 205 million for cultural preservation since Sigmundur took office last summer went to projects in his constituency in Northeast Iceland.
Among the recipients of the funds was an unknown organization, which received ISK 2 million to restore a sheep pen in Neskaupstaður, Akureyri Vikublað reports.
