Operation Napoleon popular in Germany

The magazine Reader’s Digest in Germany has applied for permission to publish 400,000 extra copies of the suspense thriller Operation Napoleon (1999) by Icelandic author Arnaldur Indridason in January next year.

The magazine has already printed about 500,000 of the book in Germany via its book club, Morgunbladid reports.

Another of Indridason’s books, City of Winter (2005), the last in the series about the detective Erlendur, was published in Germany two months ago and was immediately sold out and has made it to the 13th place of the German best-seller list.

Indridason’s Silence of the Grave (2001), also featuring Erlendur, held the top seat of the suspense thriller best-seller list in France earlier this month and the book recently received an award as the best suspense thriller in France in 2006.
