Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights is organizing an open morning meeting on the international fight against human trafficking in Reykjavík.

The meeting will take place on Friday, on the occasion of the arrival of Eva Biaudet, OSCE’s special representative on combating human trafficking, to the country, a press release from the Foreign Ministry reads.
The meeting begins with an address by Foreign Minister Össur Skarphédinsson, followed by Biaudet’s presentation on OSCE’s actions against human trafficking.
Then Thórunn J. Hafstein, acting undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, will speak. Speeches by Sudurnes Chief of Police Sigrídur Björk Gudjónsdóttir and Assistant Police Chief Alda Hrönn Jóhannsdóttir will follow.
Hildur Jónsdóttir of the Prime Minister’s Office, who chairs a team of experts on human trafficking issues, will discuss Iceland’s action plan against human trafficking and Margrét Steinarsdóttir of Althjódahús – The Reykjavík Intercultural Center will talk about assistance provided to victims of human trafficking.
The meeting concludes with questions from the audience and general discussion.
The meeting will take place in Hotel Borg between 9 am and 11 am. It will be in English, admission is free and all are welcome.
