At the occasion of the Icelandic National Day tomorrow, the National Museum of Iceland will offer free admission and guided tours around its exhibitions, both in Icelandic and English. National objects will be sold at the museum’s store.

The English tour begins at 11 am, guiding visitors through the museum’s permanent exhibition “The Making of a Nation – Heritage and History in Iceland.” It is followed by two tours in Icelandic at 2 pm and 5 pm.
The following day, June 18, the Reykjavík Museum of Photography will host a guided walk around the Kvosin neighborhood in central Reykjavík, stopping at locations where fires have influenced the development of the area for the past 100 years.
Historian Gísli Helgason will guide the tour, but even though most of his commentary may be in Icelandic, it will be accompanied with photographs from the museum’s collection.
The tour begins at Grófin, between Tryggvagata 15 and 17 at 8 pm. Participation is free and all are welcome.
