Online Music Event Part of Inspired by Iceland Campaign

Both well-known Icelandic and foreign bands that have a connection to Iceland will participate in an online music event organized as part of the Inspired by Iceland marketing campaign.

The event will be broadcast on the campaign’s website, inspiredbyiceland.com, and internet users all around the world can log on to see it. The location of the music event has not yet been determined but an outdoor concert is being considered, weather permitting, Morgunbladid reports.

“We are planning to have various musicians participate but since it is such short notice, it will be difficult to get them together in the same place at the same time. So, we have to work a bit more on the idea’s execution,” said Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir, project manager at the Trade Council of Iceland.

The plan is for the Inspired by Iceland campaign to end around mid-July, provided the Eyjafjallajökull volcano remains calm.

The music event is thought of as the campaign’s grand finale. Concert organizer Kári Sturluson is currently in talks with musicians but was unwilling to announce a possible lineup yet.

The Inspired by Iceland video, which premiered last week, has garnered significant attention around the world. Yesterday, approximately two million people had downloaded the video, according to mbl.is.
