One Win, One Loss and One Draw for Iceland

The Icelandic national team in men’s handball drew against Slovenia 32-32 in their final practice game for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar last night, reports.

Iceland beat Denmark 29-30 on Saturday evening.

The Danes were ahead in the first part of the game but Iceland overtook them half way through the first half. Denmark then equalized and the first half finished 18-17 to Iceland.

Alexander Petersson was the highest-scoring player on the Icelandic side with seven goals, followed by Stefán Rafn Sigurmannsson and Róbert Gunnarsson with five each. Michael Damsgaard was the highest-scoring player for Denmark with six goals.

Iceland lost to Sweden 24-30 in their first game in the practice tournament on Friday.

The World Cup begins on January 15.
