The much-talked-about rape case, in which charges were filed against two men for rape in an apartment in Reykjavík, took a new turn yesterday, when the lawyer of one of the accused filed charges on behalf of his client, accusing one of the women (who had accused him) of sexual harassment and rape. This was reported by Vísir.
That brings the total number of charges in this case to five. First, the two women pressed charges for rape. One of the men accused allegedly took part in both assaults. The man’s lawyer, Vilhjálmur Hans Vilhjálmsson, already filed charges against the women for false accusations. The women’s lawyer, Jóhanna Sigurjónsdóttir, has, on the other hand, filed charges against her colleague for leaking confidential information to the media.
The latest charges allege the woman raped the man in the aforementioned apartment the same night she alleges he raped her. Both are students at Reykjavík University and the rape is said to have been committed following a class-related event.
