The song ‘Pretty Face’ by Icelandic musician Sóley, who is playing this year’s Airwaves, has hit an all-time Icelandic record: more than eight million, 8,233,558 to be exact, as of yesterday evening, have watched her song on YouTube.

Björk, the queen of Icelandic music, has only had one song that has been viewed more than four million times on YouTube, the world’s most popular video site.
Sóley told Morgunblaðið music supplement Monitor that she didn’t want people to connect her music with just one song.
“Originally, the song was not supposed to be on last year’s record. This is so unbelievably random. It was someone from Germany who put the song on YouTube one year ago, not anyone from the record company. Now this is the song everybody is talking about and people now judge my music based on this one song.”
At the same time, Sóley says she has also benefited from the exposure.
