Mayor of Garðabær Gunnar Einarsson told ruv.is that 15,000-20,000 attendees are expected. The municipality covers the cost of the concert but the band plays for free to repay Garðabær for their practice facility in Lyngás.
In other music news, the heavy metal festival Eistnaflug is currently taking place in Neskaupstaður, East Iceland. In nearby Stöðvarfjörður, the art and culture themed Pólar Festival kicks off today. The Extreme Chill Festival at Hellisandur is also on this weekend.
Meanwhile, the contemporary music festival Frum, organized by chamber group Adapter and Reykjavík Art Museum, will be held at Kjarvalsstaðir July 13-14.
