Oldest Icelander dies

Sólveig Pálsdóttir, who turned 109 on 20 August and became the oldest Icelander in history earlier this month, passed away on Saturday evening. Pálsdóttir was from the farm Svínafell á Öraefum, but resided in a nursing home in Southeast Iceland at the time of her death. Only one other Icelander has reached the same age. This was reported in all the main media.
