Old Turf Farm in South Iceland Open in Summer

The old turf farm Keldur at Rangárvellir, south Iceland, will be open to visitors this summer. At Keldur a unique complex of ancient turf houses is preserved. The farm house itself was built according to one of the oldest turf farm traditions in Iceland.

The turf farm at Keldur belongs to the National Museum of Iceland’s house collection, which includes more than 40 houses across the country, such as most of the remaining turf farms and churches in addition to a number of timber houses and a few stone houses.

The farm at Keldur will be open daily from 10 am to 5 pm until August 16. Tickets cost ISK 500 (USD 3.90, EUR 2.80) but admission is free for visitors younger than 18. For further information, call the farm’s guard, Tel: +354 8458.
