Ólafía Þórunn Makes Cut at Australian Open

Icelandic golfer Ólafía Þórunn Kristinsdóttir narrowly made the cut at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, which is part of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour 2017. She was among the last contestants to make it through and did so by getting birdies in the last two holes.

“Today was a bit of a challenge,” she told Vísir yesterday. There was some headwind, but I decided never to stop. Not to give up at all.” She got three bogeys in a row and for a while, the outlook was bad.
She completed the second round in 74 strokes, or one over par. Thus, after two rounds, she is at par, but anyone above par dropped out. You can watch the stroke that got her through right here.

Now, when the tournament is half way through, Ólafía ranks 49-64 on the leaderboard among the 64 contestants remaining.
