Oil Leaks from Vessel at Reykjavík Harbor

Oil leaked from the vessel Medemborg yesterday morning, which is anchored at the pier Vogabakki in Holtagardar, Reykjavík. Firefighters were called to the scene to clean the ocean and prevent further leakage.

The fire fighters established a floating pen around the oil leakage and three specially-equipped vehicles were used to vacuum up the oil, Fréttabladid reports.

When Fréttabladid was sent to the press last night there were still eight firefighters in Holtagardar and the duty officer said they would be working until late in the night.
