Obama Concerned about Iceland’s PM Foot

Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson met U.S. President Barack Obama in New York on Monday. Obama showed concern for Icelandic Prime Minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, who was wearing mismatched shoes when he and Obama met in Stockholm recently due to a foot infection, asking about his health.

“I met Obama on Monday evening. He asked about Sigmundur’s health and whether his foot was recovering,” Gunnar wrote on his Facebook page, posting a picture of himself and his wife, Elva Björk Guðmundsdóttir, with Obama and his wife Michelle.

Gunnar is in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly and give a speech next Monday.

According to visir.is, Sigmundur has recovered fully since the foot infection incident and auctioned off his famous Nike sport shoes, one of which he was wearing when he met Obama.
