Number of Bus Passengers Increases in Akureyri

The number of passengers of the Akureyri Bus System has increased by 150% since the year 2007, when they started having free admission, mbl.is reports.

Stefán Baldursson, The Head of the Akureyri Bus System says that the attitude towards the bus has changed a lot in the two years.

“This path was taken in order to get people to use the buses and it has been a great success. More and more people have realized the comfort, not to mention how much money it saves. A lot of people now leave their car at home and take the bus to work. Now, the kids don’t have to have pockets full of change but simply hop aboard the bus and go to practice or to school. Having to drive the kids everywhere is now a thing of the past.”
