Northern Lights Video of Reykjavík Published

The Iceland Aurora Films team recently published the video Reykjavík Aurora of the northern lights seen from central Reykjavík. Because of light pollution, people usually drive away from the capital to view or photograph the aurora borealis.

“This short film … was extremely technically complicated to make due to the light pollution. We got really lucky with strong Aurora displays this winter, and some Aurora shapes we’ve never seen before,” the team wrote on vimeo.com.

“We spent a total of 30 nights outside filming. Some of the locations have never been filmed from at night, like the final scenes at Hallgrímskirkja cathedral, but we were lucky enough to be up there during the massive solar eruption on the 17th of march 2015!”
