North Iceland Culture Center Marketed as Studio

The North Iceland Symphony Orchestra is being promoted as a studio band and Akureyri culture center Hof as a studio for recording music as part of a recently-launched marketing initiative, Arctic Cinema Orchestra. Projects on behalf of Disney and Sony are currently being recorded at the studio.

Þorvaldur Bjarni Þorvaldsson, musical director of the Akureyri Culture Association, told RÚV that Hof is well suited for such purposes.

Three musical projects are currently being recorded at the studio: Icelandic violinist and composer Greta Salóme’s show to be performed onboard Disney cruise ships this summer, the score for a film by Atli Örvarsson, produced by Sony, and the 100th anniversary song for local sports club Þór.
