Norræna’s Passenger Numbers Decreasing

Passengers travelling to Iceland with Norræna, the only ferry connecting Iceland with the continental mainland via the Faroe Islands numbered 14,029 last year. This is down by more than 3,000 passengers in the previous year.

A year ago, the same number was seen, making the total number of passengers 28,058 to and from Seyðisfjörður in the East Fjords.

2010 was a record year with 35,000 passengers using the service.

The lowest amount of passengers was in 2003, when 22,000 tourists passed through the Seyðisfjörður ferry terminal, mbl.is reports.
