The foreign ministers of the Nordic countries agreed at the Nordic Council of Ministers meeting in Helsinki yesterday that Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway to move their embassies in Reykjavík under one roof.

The move is aimed at cost efficiency and strengthening cooperation and diplomatic ties between the nations, as stated in a press release from the meeting.
In Berlin embassies of the four nations as well as Iceland share the same building. Plans are also underway for Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden to open joint embassies in other countries, including Myanmar later this month, Pakistan in 2014, Bangladesh in 2015, and to expand the existing Swedish embassy in Vietnam to accommodate Finnish and Norwegian diplomats by 2016.
No date was given as to when the joint embassy will be opened in Reykjavík.
