Among Icelandic participants is the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Iceland Dance Company and theater company Vesturport, whose staging of Metamorphosis will take place February 20-22, ruv.is reports.
Other events include screenings of The Deep (Djúpið) by director Baltasar Kormákur, which won 11 awards at Saturday’s Eddas.
Also, Icelandic knitting will be introduced to attendees, as well as Icelandic literature, rock, pop and jazz music.
The festival was initiated by directors of the Kennedy Center and Washington city authorities. The goal is to stress the interplay between nature and society with Nordic politicians, commentators and others discussing Nordic culture and communities.
The program is to appeal to all age groups.
