No Miss Iceland 2012

For the first time in 30 years there will be no Miss Iceland competition. The competition will continue next spring with the crowning of one woman who will go on to represent Iceland at contests abroad, notably Miss World.

The competition was launched in 1950 and has been held almost every year since 1981. During the past 60 years, Icelandic women have thrice been crowned Miss World.

Contest organizer Arnar Laufdal says he is occupied with starting a new business and did not have time for the competition this year, reports.

As there was no winner this year, the runner up to Miss Iceland 2010 competed in the Miss World contest this year.
