Around 96 percent of homes in Iceland have computers and 95 percent have internet access according to the latest data from Statistics Iceland. The number of internet users has increased by 1 percent from last year.

According to the new statistics, 44 percent of internet users connect to the internet via handhold devices such as mobile phones and smartphones, 45 percent of which connect daily. Around 40 percent of internet users in the country connect to the net outside of their homes.
In the past, Iceland and Norway have had the highest proportion of internet users in the EEA but comparable figures for the rest of Europe in 2012 have not yet been released, according to ruv.is.
