NFS news station to close?

Much discussion has arisen in the last two days as to the future of Iceland’s news station NFS. Ari Edwald, CEO of 365 fjölmidlar, parent company of NFS, told staff at a meeting that there would be lay-offs at the end of the month, but not on a mass scale. This is reported in all the main media.

Dozens of NFS staff members insisted on a meeting with Edwald after a rumor started circulating that the station was to be shut down. At the meeting he refused to confirm or deny the story, generating still more anxiety among staff. Some 90 people work for NFS, which is approximately one year old.
