Iceland’s news station NFS was closed last Friday, ending intense speculation about its future. A total of 20 people were given redundancy notices in the afternoon, and NFS ceased broadcasting in the evening. This was reported in all the main media.
NFS was launched a year ago under the auspices of 365 Media, which also operates Channel 2, Sýn and numerous other television and radio stations, as well as publishing Fréttabladid and DV. The operations of NFS will continue in changed form, as the newsroom section of Channel 2.
