Following is a news release from the Iceland Defense Force concerning the death of U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Ashley Turner.

News Release from Iceland Defense Force, U.S. Air Force 85th Group and U.S. Naval Air Station, Keflavik , Wednesday 17 August 2005:
“Last Sunday evening, 14 August, U.S. Air Force Airman First Class Ashley Turner, age 20, was found unconscious with trauma to the head and neck in a common room in her dormitory building, No. 762 at U.S. Naval Air Station Keflavik. She was taken to the Naval Hospital, Keflavik where she was pronounced dead at 2256. The circumstances surrounding the death are under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Navy Security and the Icelandic Police. A team of expert investigators has arrived to assist. A U.S. Air Force Airman and an Icelandic female were detained for questioning. The Airman remains in custody on suspicion of causing A1C Turner’s death.
Airman 1st Class Turner was a member of the 56th Rescue Squadron. She was born in Frederick, Md. March 20, 1985 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduating from high school. Upon graduation from Technical training Turner received her assignment to Naval Air Station Keflavik, Iceland where she served in Aviation Resource Management. Turner is survived by her father, Lawrence Turner; mother, Lisa Turner and brother, Jason Turner. Both of her parents are retired U.S. Navy Sailors. A memorial service honoring Airman 1st Class Turner’s life and distinguished U.S. Air Force career is scheduled for Aug. 24.
