Kristín Ingólfsdóttir, professor of medicine is the new rector of the University of Iceland. Krísín received 53,1 percent of votes whereas the other candidate, Ágúst Einarsson professor of economy received 46,9 percent.
This is the first time in the 94 year history of the University of Iceland that a woman obtains this post. Ingólfsdóttir says that the University’s finances will be at the top of her agenda.
