The map shows the distribution and record of changes of each of the glaciers over the last century.

According to the Icelandic Met Office, many changes are occurring to the glaciers due to a warming climate. “Glaciers have a significant impact on the landscape and people of Iceland, especially from the perspective of hydrology,” a description of the map reads.

The authors of the map and accompanying pamphlet are Oddur Sigurðsson (Icelandic Meteorological Office), Richard S. Williams, Jr. (U.S. Geological Survey), and Skúli Víkingsson (Iceland Geosurvey).
