Hardskafi, the latest novel by Icelandic crime author Arnaldur Indridason, was the most popular book in Iceland last year with 30,000 copies sold, according to statistics from the Social Science Research Institute at the University of Iceland.
According to Forlagid, the book’s publisher, Hardskafi also holds the record as being the highest sold original edition of an Icelandic novel. The final sales numbers are not clear yet, however, because books that were returned haven’t been taken into account, Morgunbladid reports.
The second most popular book in Iceland last year was a recipe book on Italian cuisine, published by department store Hagkaup, and the third most popular was The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
