The eighth novel by Icelandic crime author Stefán Máni Ódádahraun (the name of infamous lava fields in Iceland’s highlands) has been released, described by the publisher, JPG útgáfa, as “the epitaph of the Icelandic stock adventure.”
A character from Máni’s bestseller Skipid (“The Ship”), cold-blooded criminal Ódinn R. Elsuson, stumbles upon a letter which grants him access to the stock world and before long the king of the underworld is waging a war on Iceland’s tycoons.
Ódádahraun intertwines the author’s imagination with true stories from the Icelandic economy while it was at its peak. In the book, Máni predicts the collapse of the “stock adventure”—ironic considering the circumstances.
For the time being, Ódádahraun is only available in Icelandic.
