Laxdaela Lárusar features a recently-divorced engineer from Reykjavík, who tries to save a small community in west Iceland from damnation while desperately trying to find himself, as described in a press release from Poppoli Pictures.
The leading roles are played by Stefán Karl Stefánsson, Eggert Thorleifsson and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir and a number of other well-known Icelandic actors appear in supporting roles, such as Hilmir Snaer Gudnason, Ingvar E. Sigurdsson and Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir.
Jóhannesson has previously directed The Higher Force, The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela and the online mini-series Circledrawers.
