Heimur Publishing has released the 2008 version of its Iceland guidebooks in time for the busiest tourist season. The books, which are available in Icelandic, English and German, have never been more packed with information and they can be downloaded for free.
This is the 33rd year that the English version Around Iceland is being published, the Icelandic Á ferd um Ísland is appearing for the 18th time, while the German Rund um Island has been published for 11 years. The guidebooks are distributed to all the main tourist destinations in Iceland.
The books contain information on every part of the country, including the central highlands, listings of tourist services and maps of both urban areas and rural regions, where the main guesthouses, camp sites and swimming pools are marked.
The introductory chapter includes general information about Iceland and its people and an overview of the main events taking place next summer.
The guidebooks also contain photographs by Iceland Review’s photographer and deputy editor Páll Stefánsson.
Heimur’s guidebooks have proven popular among tourists; more than one-third of all tourists who visit the country use the book and nearly half of all German-speaking tourists in Iceland use Rund um Island.
