New Hotel Apartments in Downtown Reykjavík

There are plans to construct fourteen new hotel apartments in the Kirkjuhvol building opposite the Reykjavík Cathedral by the parliament building; the Thórsgardur Group has been given the permission to commence the construction as well as add three additional apartments to the fourteen.

The Reykjavík Cathedral lit up behind the Parliament building in downtown Reykjavík.

The hotel is expected to open next spring, Valdís Fjölnisdóttir told Fréttatíminn.

“The clientele we are after are people who want all the benefits of an apartment in a hotel. The apartments will accommodate both couples with and without children, regardless of the nationality,” Fjölnisdóttir told Fréttatíminn.

She expects that over the summer the apartments will mostly be occupied by foreign travelers visiting Iceland, and over the winter Icelanders wanting to spend some time in the city will lease the apartments.

The Thórsgardur Group is owned by American investor Michael Jenkins, Valdís Fjölnisdóttir and Eygló Agnarsdóttir.
