New hand luggage regulations take effect

New regulations concerning hand luggage on international flights take effect in Iceland today. Liquids and fluids must be in containers not exceeding 100 ml, although each individual is permitted to carry more than one such unit. This incorporates such items as lip gloss, mascara, perfume and hand lotion. Passengers must place all liquids in a clear plastic bag with a plastic zipper that is less than one liter in volume. Each passenger may not carry more than one such bag. Any liquids exceeding these limits will be discarded. The bag will be placed on a tray and run through an X-ray machine at the security gate at Keflavík airport, with the same procedure being applied at other airports in the European Economic Area. This is reported in all the main media.
