A new two-year regional growth agreement was signed between the Akureyri Regional Business Agency and the Icelandic state yesterday by Minister of Industry Össur Skarphédinsson and chairman of the agency Helena Karlsdóttir.
The agreement includes funding worth ISK 90 million (USD 1.4 million, EUR 1.0 million), ruv.is reports.
Managing director of the Akureyri Regional Business Agency, Magnús Thór Ásgeirsson, said the funding will have encouraging influence on creating jobs and boosting the economy in the Eyjafjördur region.
The Eyjafjördur growth agreement was established by the Ministry of Industry in 2004 in cooperation with official and private parties to develop the economy in the region.
