The exhibition “Jón Sigurdsson” of paintings by visual artist Bergthór Morthens opens in the Art Gallery of Mosfellsbaer, a neighboring town of Reykjavík, today at 2 pm. The exhibition is named after Iceland’s independence hero.
Morthens’s paintings are expressive portraits with references to events, prominent personalities and special circumstances in our times, such as modern relations, patriotism, independence and heroism. The artist works with a mixed technique on canvas.
Morthens (born 1979) graduated from the Akureyri Art School in 2004 and has since held both solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions across the country. He lives and works in Siglufjördur, north Iceland.
The exhibition runs until April 24.
