Páll Magnússon, the new director general at the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, started yesterday.
On his first day on the job, Páll asked if viewers and listeners were benefiting commensurately to RÚV’s
revenues.
According to RÚV, Páll said that new laws will enable more efficient management of the institution.
Páll joins RÚV from television station Stöd 2 where he served as a director and news anchor. Prior to that he was the PR director for deCODE Genetics.
Páll was appointed by Thorgerdur Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, minister of education, for a five year term.
The outgoing director general, Markús Örn Antonsson, has been appointed Iceland’s ambassador to Canada starting November 1.
