New CEO of Iceland’s Marel Food Systems

Theo Hoen will become the CEO of the Marel Food Systems and Stork Food Systems merger. Until now, he has served as CEO for the latter company. Hördur Arnarson, the current CEO of Marel, will soon step down from his post.

Marel acquired Stork Food Systems last year and the plan is to increase profitability by merging the two companies, according to a statement released by Marel on Sunday.

Fréttabladid speculates whether this will place increased emphasis on Marel’s foreign operations and that the company is perhaps being moved from Iceland.

However, Marel’s executives maintain that the company’s headquarters will remain in Iceland.

Marel’s current managing director Sigursteinn Grétarsson will have a seat on the executive board of the new Marel-Stork merger.
