The making of a road leading up to the construction site has begun and it is expected that the road will be completed this year, ruv.is reports.
The project is expected to be completed in 2020 and will cost around ISK 2 billion (USD 16 million, EUR 12 million).
During certain conditions, avalanche risk is created in Siglufjörður and the neighboring town Ólafsfjörður. Several avalanches occurred in the area after heavy snowfall in March this year; no one was harmed.
