The release of Sigur Rós’ new album Kveikur is scheduled on June 17, the Icelandic National Day. However, it can already be listened to on the band’s website.

The highlight of the heavy metal festival Eisnaflug, which will take place in Neskaupstaður, East Iceland, July 10-13, is U.S. band Red Fang. The festival will be the last stop of the band’s current tour of Europe, which began on May 31 at the Sonisphere festival in Madrid.

Red Fang finished recording a new album in May, which is scheduled to be released next autumn.

Meanwhile, the Icelandic band Sin Fang recently returned from a three-week tour in Germany and held a concert to celebrate the release of their album Flowers upon their return to Iceland yesterday. The band has now also released a video to one of the tracks from the album, ‘What’s Wrong With Your Eyes.’

In other music news, the young sputnik band Vök, which won this year’s Music Experiments, recently signed a contract with Record Records. The band warmed up for Sin Fang yesterday.
