Icelandic solo artist Snorri Helgason, formerly of Sprengjuhöllin, released his sophomore album, Winter Sun with Kimi Records on August 4. His debut, I’m Gonna Put My Name on Your Door, appeared in 2009.

Winter Sun was recorded by Sindri Már Sigfússon of Sin Fang and Seabear, who was also responsible for the sound mixing along with Birgir Jón Birgisson, as described in a press release.
The sound engineering was in the hands of Alan Douches, who has worked with Fleetwood Mac, Sufjan Stevens and the Animal Collective in the past. The album is available on gogoyoko.com.
In other music news, 50 more artists have been announced for the Iceland Airwaves music festival in Reykjavík, October 12-16, in addition to the almost 100 whose presence had already been confirmed.
The new musicians and bands include Clock Opera (UK), Jóhann Jóhannsson, Hjaltalín and Lay Low (IS), Active Child and The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger (US) and Esmerine and Random Recipe (CA).
According to a press release, there are only a few hundred tickets left and the sales are four times higher than at this time last year.
The presence of foreign guests will be stronger than in previous years as 60 percent of tickets sold have been acquired by buyers overseas.
