Netflix Series Filmed in Reykjanes

The production company Truenorth has obtained a permit from the Environment Agency of Iceland for shooting an episode for the Netflix series Black Mirror on Grænavatn and Kleifarvatn lakes on Reykjanes peninsula, Southwest Iceland, March 10, 16 and 17, RÚV reports.

Black Mirror is a British satire series, focusing on the dark side of modern society, technology in particular.

The filming will take place by the cowshed on Grænavatn lake on March 10, but the shed has been vacant for more than 60 years. Most of the filming will be done indoors, but a short scene is planned outdoors.

There will be filming on Krísuvíkurvegur road and by the rocks north of Syðri Stapi, as well as on Syðri Stapi itself in Kleifarvatn lake. The plan is to throw a bag and a bike into the lake.

Krísuvíkurvegur road will be temporarily closed during filming, but for no more than five minutes at a time. About 100 people, including three actors, will take part in the filming.
